Meredith Wise, president of the Employers Association of the Northeast (EANE), recently announced the addition of three executives and -- the renewal of one current member's term -- to the 18-member EANE Board of Directors. All appointments are effective January 1, 2017 for a three-year term.
They are: Jean Harrington, a partner at the law firm of Duffy & Sweeney, LTD based in Providence, RI; Joanne Ollson, Assistant Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Western New England University in Springfield, MA; and Charlene Metcalf, Controller at Fontaine Bros., Inc. in Springfield, MA. Karen McFetridge, Vice President for Human Resources at Cyalume Technologies in West Springfield, MA begins her second term.
EANE board members present a rich mix of experts from business and industry throughout our region. They offer concrete counsel and valuable perspectives that help the organization remain in the forefront of employment relations and drive member engagement.
Jean Harrington, Esq, a partner at Duffy & Sweeney, is an integral member of the corporate law team with special expertise in mergers and acquisitions. She represents sophisticated private investment funds, multi-national corporations and other market participants in their most challenging transactional matters. She is known for engineering creative resolutions which unite divergent parties and bring complex deals to fruition.
Harrington is a member of the American Bar Association, the Rhode Island Bar Association, a former presenter on "Organizing a Rhode Island Business" and a member of the Board of Directors of WBRU; a Brown University student-run radio station. A resident of Cumberland, RI, she is an honors graduate of Brown University and a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College Law School.
Charlene Metcalf has been with Fontaine Bros., Inc. for eight years as Controller where she oversees the accounting and HR functions. She has over 30 years of accounting experience with an extensive background in financial reporting, auditing and internal controls. Prior to joining Fontaine Bros., Inc., Metcalf held several financial positions in the banking, insurance and public accounting industries.
As an EANE member, Metcalf actively participates in the monthly roundtables for both finance and HR; she has attended several other EANE-sponsored seminars. Metcalf has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Western New England University (1985) and has passed the CPA exam. She is a resident of Longmeadow, MA.
Joanne Ollson, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is the Assistant Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Western New England University. She is a human resource professional with over 25 years of experience in a variety of industries. Ollson has worked in education for over fifteen years of her career, primarily in higher education.
Ollson holds a Bachelor's degree from Bay Path University (2001) and a Master's degree from American International College (2005). Ollson is SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified and is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Western New England University. She is a longtime resident of Ludlow, MA and current resident of Enfield, CT.
Karen McFetridge, Vice President of Human Resources at Cyalume Technologies, is responsible for human resources at Cyalume Technologies, Inc., as well as at Cyalume Specialty Products, Inc. She has been employed by Cyalume and its predecessor, Omniglow Corporation, since 1999.
Previously, McFetridge was the Area Human Resources Manager for Laidlaw Transit and was responsible for multiple locations in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
She is a graduate of The George Washington University, and was awarded her SPHR in 2000. She is a resident of Broad Brook, CT.
